My journey into motherhood began many years ago. Actually 23 years ago on Mother’s Day, I was pregnant with my first baby. After a long, hot summer we were surprised when our baby boy arrived as we were told he would be a girl! He had arrived! The perfect baby. My baby. My pride and joy.
The moment of his birth was also the moment I became a mom – a moment that will remain in my heart and memory forever. The sweet smell of a newborn, that soft sweet skin, the peacefulness of snuggling with an angel you have brought into the world and wanting nothing more than to be the best mom ever.
Are there challenges? Of course! Challenges that have helped me grow and learn, yet love more than I ever imagined possible. That feeling is simply unexplainable. I was tired - I was a wife, sister, daughter and friend. Yet, the most important and rewarding job I now had was “mommy;” a job I wouldn’t trade for anything else in the whole world!
We have since been blessed with three more babies. All of them special and unique in their own ways and all of them continuing to complete me and help me grow as a mom and make me a better person every single day. For this, and more, I thank them. I thank them for making me kinder, more patient, more tolerant, empathetic, understanding, apologetic and eager to do my best. I also thank them for forgiving me my many mistakes! They have truly given me the greatest gift of all – the gift of motherhood!
