Check out 9 family favorites!

By Jennifer Giusti ~ Local Redwood City mom of 3 August 28, 2021

I've rounded up some of our family's favorite kid-friendly breweries in the Bay Area to enjoy with the whole family, along with the reasons my family loves them. From Redwood City to San Carlos, San Mateo to San Francisco, and beyond, there are some great choices when looking for a brewery to enjoy with kids along.

(Listed in alphabetical order.)

Alpha Acid Brewing Company

121 Industrial Road, Unit #11
Belmont, CA
(650) 394-4728

What we love: Alpha Acid is kid and dog-friendly. We love the covered outdoor seating. You are allowed to bring your own food and snacks. They feature 18 rotating beers on tap and pop-up food trucks on-site some weekends.

Barebottle Brewing Company

Santa Clara Taproom and Kitchen

Santa Clara, CA
(408) 564-5722

San Francisco Brewery and Taproom

What we love: Barebottle Brewing has two locations. Both are kid-friendly and have either on-site food or food trucks.

Blue Oak Brewing Company

815 Cherry Lane
San Carlos, CA
(415) 273-9676

What we love: Blue Oak Brewing is kid and dog-friendly. Open 7 days a week, you will find the food truck schedule on website. They offer a great variety of trucks, when available. You will find both shaded and unshaded outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. *Parent tip: you can bring outside food, so bring snacks, pick up to-go food, or even doordash, if you'd like.

Faction Brewing

2501 Monarch Street
Alameda, CA
(510) 523-2739

What we love: Faction Brewing is kid and dog-friendly. A former Alameda Navy base, they feature a very large outside area (weather permitting) with a great view of San Francisco and the bridge and plenty of room for kid's to scooter around. The kids will love playing Skee-Ball. No outside food is allowed, but food truck on-site (check website for schedule). Parent tip: No shade due to regulations for birds, so bring a hat and sunscreen. Great spot to see USS Hornet and enjoy a walk or scooter ride.

Fieldwork Brewing Company

3030 South Delaware Street
San Mateo, CA
(650) 242-1280

What we love: Fieldwork Brewing accepts reservations to eliminate the wait for a table. You will find both shaded and unshaded outdoor seating. They do not allow outside food - they have a small menu (the sandwiches are yummy!). The kids will enjoy the games available to play. Parent tip: Paddock Park is a very short walk, Tin Pot Creamery, an organic ice cream shop, is across the street, and you will find flat streets all around that are perfect for scooters and bikes.

Ghostwood Brewing (Tasting room currently closed - pick up orders only for now)

1757 E Bayshore Road, Unit #1
Redwood City, CA

What we love: Ghostwood Brewing is currently only doing pick up at their warehouse as they have closed their tasting room due to pandemic. The warehouse is close to the Redwood City Port, so make a day of it and rent a kayak or check out the fresh fish/seafood available. Once the tasting room reopens, it is kid-friendly.

Half Moon Bay Brewing Company

390 Capistrano Road
Half Moon Bay, CA
(650) 728-2739

What we love: Half Moon Bay Brewing is a great spot to see the water and walk around the area. Featuring indoor and outdoor dining overlooking the bay, they have amazing food with a kid menu as well (and at last check, kids eat free on Wednesdays!). Pre-COVID, they hosted some great kid-friendly events. Parent tip: The kid meals are large enough for younger kids to share and big kids to feel full. The soft pretzel or appetizer platter on the main menu are perfect to share as a family.

Harmonic Brewing

1050 26th Street
San Francisco, CA
(415) 872-6817

What we love: Harmonic Brewing is kid and dog-friendly. They accept reservations to eliminate the wait for a table. Featuring shaded and unshaded seating, they have food trucks on the weekends and also allow you to bring your own food. Parent tip: It's a short walk or drive to Neighbor Bakehouse where you will find amazing pastries.

Hop Dogma Brewing Company

What we love: Hop Dogma Brewing Co. is kid and dog-friendly. They feature outdoor and partial outdoor seating making it perfect for all kinds of weather. They typically have food trucks on the weekends and also allow you to bring your own food. (Visit Sam's Chowder House take-out window or another nearby seafood place!) Parent tip: Just a few doors down, you will find Half Moon Bay Salt Water Taffy Company and it's a great area for a coastal walk with scenic views.

When visiting events and local businesses, be sure to tell them Macaroni KID sent you... and don't forget to tell all your friends!
