Who doesn't enjoy a yummy breakfast? After all, what’s not to love about breakfast? No matter what kind of breakfast you’re in the mood for -- the sweet or the savory -- you can find it in the Fremont, Newark, and Union City area.

Plus … breakfast has bacon!

Hungry for breakfast in Fremont, Newark, or Union City yet?

I am! So I've rounded up my family's choices for the top seven breakfast spots in the Tri-City area, along with the reasons that my family loves them. I've listed them in alphabetical order:

Baldie's Cafe

2649 Decoto Road, Union City; (510) 429-9059

Hours: Breakfast is available all day! Open Sunday through Wednesday from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm and Thursday through Saturday from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm.

What we love: Baldie's Cafe is family-owned and operated with yummy, homestyle cooking not only for breakfast but also lunch and dinner and has been a top place for breakfast in Union City since 1989. We love the friendly service, large, tasty portions, and that there is truly something for everyone. The traditional diner atmosphere is great. My kids love the thick French toast with eggs and sausage while I always go for a Belgian waffle with strawberries and don't forget the yummy hashbrowns!

Bill's Cafe

39222 Fremont Blvd., Fremont; (510) 894-2224

Hours: Breakfast is available all day! Open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm and 7:00 am to 3:00 pm Friday through Sunday.

What we love: Bill's Cafe offers breakfast, lunch, and cocktails with a full bar. My kids love the chocolate chip pancakes while I go for a non-traditional breakfast and enjoy either the B.L.T. or the cobb salad which always makes my kids laugh. You will enjoy the diverse menu options.

Black Bear Diner

5035 Mowry Avenue, Fremont; (510) 796-8000

Hours: Breakfast is available all day! Open daily from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm.

What we love: Black Bear Diner is the place to go when you are hungry! Large portion sizes and great variety, plus they have a lot of seating so you might not have to wait as long if you visit during a busy time of day, plus they have grits! My husband enjoys the Bear's Choice breakfast which includes eggs, your choice of pancakes, a sweet cream waffle, french toast, or biscuits and gravy, plus bacon and sausage or ham and my daughter loves the cinnamon roll French toast which is served with fresh fruit.

Break Your Fast

1688 Decoto Road, Union City; (510) 324-8599

Hours: Breakfast is available all day! They are closed on Tuesdays. Open Monday and Wednesday through Friday from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.

What we love: Break Your Fast is one of only a few places where you can find Beignets locally! Yes, Beignets - southern style donuts topped with powdered sugar and vanilla sauce. Try them! They also have a nice variety of omelets and pancakes, plus early bird specials from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and the kid's meals are just $4!

Jack's Restaurant & Bar

1029 Newpark Mall Road, Newark; (510) 789-0027

Hours: Breakfast is available daily until 2:00 pm! Open Sunday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm and Friday and Saturday from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm.

What we love: Jack's Restaurant & Bar offers some unique breakfast specials, breakfast burritos, and other traditional breakfast options. My favorite is their What the Cluck special which is a Belgian waffle with fried chicken - yum! The kids usually share an omelet which is served with Yukon gold hashbrowns and your choice of toast.

Nation's

5213 Mowry Avenue, Fremont; (510) 797-3211

Hours: Breakfast is available all day! Open Sunday through Thursday from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm and Friday and Saturday from 6:00 am to midnight.

What we love: Nation's is a Fremont icon that's been around for over 50 years. For breakfast, they offer single, double, and triple options which is nice. The kids love their omelets while I enjoy hash browns with a side of ham. Make sure you take home a pie - they are delicious! They sell their pies by the slice or a half pie or a whole pie. My favorite is the seasonal strawberry pie - yum!

Skillet'z Cafe

37378 Niles Blvd., Fremont; (510) 793-8161

Hours: Breakfast is available all day! Open daily from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.

What we love: Skillet'z Cafe offers a huge variety of omelets, a unique assortment of breakfast combinations, and a Mickey Face Pancake! Guess what the kids always order? Yup! That fun Mickey Face Pancake! They also have stuffed Beignets and fresh berry pancakes!
