By the end of the week, your student will have a fundamental understanding of chess openings, master the most popular endgame checkmate patterns, and have a sharp eye for tactical maneuvers in the endgame. Your student will also learn chess history by learning about past champions while becoming a tournament-ready player using chess clocks and scorebooks to log and analyze their chess games!

The Intermediate I class is designed for post-beginners in grades 1-5 who know the rules of chess and can play independently. They focus on what to do in the opening, what to look for in the middlegame, and how to force checkmates.

Their beginner class is designed for students who have no prior chess experience. Students start their chess journey by learning how to set a chessboard, how each piece moves and captures, and how to win the game.

Their goal for beginner students is to be able to play chess outside of class independently, opening a new world of learning!
