GoCar Tours San Diego hosted us for this amazing excursion. All opinions and views are our own.
We arrived in San Diego on a cruise ship over the Thanksgiving holiday and needed an activity for the whole family. With perfect fall weather in the 70s, we wanted something to see the city and enjoy the fresh air. We found the perfect activity for kids and adults from ages 7 to 100 in Old Town!
Don't miss this video of our teen with his uncle in the Classic Go-Car!
Renting GoCars allowed us to sightsee around the harbor, Little Italy, the Gaslamp quarter, and many more areas. The GPS voice-guided tour — with fun audio commentary — allowed us to stay on route safely and see all of the sites around this beautiful city.
Our outing was filled with smiles and laughter and we are still talking about how much fun we all had from the teen all the way up to the 80-year-old grandpa! We will definitely do a longer tour the next time we are in San Diego and are planning on checking out the other locations as well.

GoCar Tours offers one, two, and three-hour GPS tours in areas around San Diego, including Balboa Park and Coronado. They even offer a few After Dark options such as Historic Haunts and Holiday Lights, a Sunset Cliffs and Beaches tour, and a Land and Sea tour that includes a speedboat adventure — literally something for everyone.
The San Diego location currently has four vehicle options:
- GoCar E-Sport - this is what my sister, my husband, my dad, and I had. Two seater and so fun! Electric powered with a top speed of 80 MPH.
- Classic GoCar - our teen and his uncle enjoyed this sporty little vehicle! Even with the teen being 6'4"! Italian engine powered with a top speed of 30 MPH.
- GoBuggy - the only four-seater (rear passengers need to be children) and perfect for a beach tour. Electric powered with a top speed of 50 MPH.
- Polaris Slingshot - looks super sporty and stylish with a top speed of 125 MPH.
Kelvin greeted us with a friendly smile when we arrived at GoCar Tours San Diego and was amazing. He made sure we knew about the route and all of the safety features of our vehicles. He was very knowledgeable and thorough and helped start our experience with excitement.
With additional locations in San Francisco, Monterey, Las Vegas, and even Barcelona, GoCar Tours is a great way to explore and enjoy time with family and friends, while taking in all the sights these beautiful cities have to offer.
Mac KID Tips:
- Reserve ahead of time to make it quick and easy upon arrival.
- If you have a GoPro camera, bring it! We did not, but found ourselves wishing we did. Otherwise, a lanyard to loop through your phone to connect it safely to the GoCar will make you feel safer to have the phone handy to capture fun videos and photos (as the passenger, of course).
- Bring a hat and sunglasses and wear sunscreen.
Some GoCar FAQs:
- Children who no longer need a car seat are old enough to join in!
- The vehicles are street-legal vehicles and you do need a valid driver's license to drive one.
- The GPS voice option is available in six different languages.
For an outing that blends freedom, laughter, and nonstop discovery, GoCar Tours delivers big. These little cars pack a ton of personality and offer one of the most entertaining ways to experience San Diego. We left with full hearts, unforgettable memories, and a new favorite family tradition. Trust us — once you try it, you’ll be planning your next tour before you even return the keys.
