Santa Hat Brownies - Easy Holiday Treat

Cute and easy!

By Jennifer Hill Macaroni KID Fremont Publisher December 13, 2023

We love baking - especially during the holidays. Now that one of my daughters is 15, she's always in the kitchen baking something. She wanted to make brownies but wanted to give them a holiday look so they quickly became Santa hats and turned out so cute.

You can use any brownie recipe, brownie mix, or even pre-made brownies to get started. We used a brownie mix this time. You could decorate them as Christmas trees as well.

At Macaroni KID, we skip the fluff and get straight to the good stuff. No need to scroll through pages of unnecessary content — our recipes are easy to find. Now let's get cooking!

Brownies

  1. Make your brownies as instructed in recipe or box mix.
  2. Cut the brownies into squares or rectangles and then into triangles.
  3. Use your icing to decorate

Icing

  1.  Make icing* using 2/3 cup powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon milk. If it is too thin, add a little more powdered sugar, if it's too thick, add a little more milk until you reach desired consistency.
  2. Add coloring to make 2/3 of icing red for Santa hats (or all green for Christmas trees). Leave the remaining icing white.
  3. Drizzle (easiest to use a butter knife or spoon) the colored icing back and forth across the brownie.
  4. For the bottom and top with white icing, it's easiest to use a piping bag with small tip or even a plastic zipper bag. Add a white ball and fur trim for Santa hat.
  5. Refrigerate for 15 minutes to help icing set.

*Icing alternative - you can use a buttercream recipe if you prefer a thicker icing.
