At Wave Warriors, they teach the importance of Ocean Safety, Awareness, and Sport. The Ocean is alive and not only demands our respect but also needs our help in order to be preserved for future generations. Respect for each other, respect for the environment, and respect for our planet are all key elements to this program along with enjoying the beautiful act of surfing and enjoying the ocean!

The Central Coast Watermen’s Association and Wave Warriors program were established to bridge the gap between Junior Lifeguards and Surf Camp. Campers will learn the importance of Ocean Safety/Awareness, build friendships through teamwork and enjoy the beautiful art of Ocean Sports. On any given day, campers will learn how to surf, paddle board, ocean swim, bodysurf, and how to read the ocean safely and efficiently. The ultimate mission of this program is to introduce surfing and ocean sports to youth and adults alike. Although they are primarily known for their Summer Camp, group and private lessons are available to families looking to understand the Ocean more in-depth. I grew up in Santa Cruz and have spent 25 years of my life surfing, diving, exploring and lifeguarding the beaches here and know this area very well. I work with everyone from 5-year-old children who have just learned to swim and whose parents want them to be ocean safe all the way up to adults looking to get into the water and surf for the first time and everyone in between.
