The William Cann Neighborhood Park in Union City offers a safe play area for children about 3 to 12 years old with many slides and climbing opportunities.
This playground is definitely for an older crowd. My littlest, 15 months old, was able to climb some steps, but mostly spent his time walking around the equipment. They do have two baby swings, but they are REALLY far away from the main playground. The rest of our group that day was mostly 3 and 4 years old with one 2.5 year old. These guys did fine! They loved all the slides! (There are seven of them, I believe!) and several different ways to climb up. They also loved that this park had swings (four of them) which they always enjoy, but seem to be being eliminated as new equipment is put in these days. The equipment was in great condition and the ground cover is tanbark.
There are restrooms and a drinking fountain. They also have quite a few covered picnic tables and several benches. There is a lot of grass and some beautiful trees. There is street parking (and even some in the shade), but the playground is not near the street. There are quite a few large oak and alder trees that provide shade, but they do not cover any of the playground areas. The Alameda Creek Trail runs behind the park so you may occasionally even see someone riding their horse.
William Cann Neighborhood Park is located at 33001 Marsh Hawk Road in Union City.
