Where Kids Can Get Free Meals and Food This Summer

We have found several options for children needing a meal while school is closed

With schools closing, there are thousands of children who could be going without meals or food due to the current situation. Below you will find locations where children can receive free meals.

North Fremont:

Cabrillo Elementary School 36700 San Pedro Drive, Fremont

Beginning Monday, May 4th, Grab and Go complimentary breakfast and lunches will be available for all students and children ages 18 and younger to pick up in the school parking lot on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:15 AM to 11:15 AM through August 12, 2020. On Mondays, they will distribute two days of meals and on Wednesdays, they will distribute three days of meals. In addition, on Mondays, they will have a bag of groceries for each family.

Thornton Junior High School 4357 Thornton Avenue, Fremont

Beginning Monday, May 4th, Grab and Go complimentary breakfast and lunches will be available for all students and children ages 18 and younger to pick up in the school parking lot on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM through August 12, 2020. On Mondays, they will distribute two days of meals and on Wednesdays, they will distribute three days of meals. In addition, on Mondays, they will have a box of fruit and vegetables for each family.

Central Fremont:

Tri-City Volunteers Food Bank 37350 Joseph Street, Fremont

Drive-thru grab and go bag of food available Monday through Thursday from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Washington High School 38442 Fremont Blvd., Fremont

Grab and Go complimentary breakfast and lunches will be available for all students and children ages 18 and younger to pick up in the school parking lot from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM through August 12, 2020. On Mondays, they will distribute two days of meals and on Wednesdays, they will distribute three days of meals. In addition, on Wednesdays, they will have a box of fruit and vegetables for each family.

South Fremont:

Irvington High School 41800 Blacow Road, Fremont

Grab and Go complimentary breakfast and lunches will be available for all students and children ages 18 and younger to pick up in the school parking lot from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM through August 12, 2020. On Mondays, they will distribute two days of meals and on Wednesdays, they will distribute three days of meals. In addition, on Mondays, they will have a box of fruit and vegetables for each family.

Irvington Presbyterian Church 4181 Irvington Avenue, Fremont

The Tri-City Free Breakfast Program offers a hot, nutritious breakfast every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

Kennedy High School 39999 Blacow Road, Fremont

Grab and Go complimentary breakfast and lunches will be available for all students and children ages 18 and younger to pick up in the school parking lot from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM through August 12, 2020. On Mondays, they will distribute two days of meals and on Wednesdays, they will distribute three days of meals. In addition, on Wednesdays, they will have a box of fruit and vegetables for each family.

Newark:

Newark Junior High School 6201 Lafayette Avenue, Newark

Newark Unified School District will provide "to go" meals on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 AM to noon. All NUSD students, including non-NUSD students under the age of 18, are eligible to receive these free meals. Meals will be distributed by walk-up or drive-through. On Mondays, students will receive two meals and on Wednesdays, they will receive three meals through August 10, 2020. 

NUSD Central Kitchen 37370 Birch Street, Newark

Newark Unified School District will provide "to go" meals on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 AM to noon. All NUSD students, including non-NUSD students under the age of 18, are eligible to receive these free meals. Meals will be distributed by walk-up or drive-through. On Mondays, students will receive two meals and on Wednesdays, they will receive three meals through August 10, 2020.

Schilling Elementary School 36901 Spruce Street, Newark

Newark Unified School District will provide "to go" meals on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 AM to noon. All NUSD students, including non-NUSD students under the age of 18, are eligible to receive these free meals. Meals will be distributed by walk-up or drive-through. On Mondays, students will receive two meals and on Wednesdays, they will receive three meals through August 10, 2020.

Union City:

Alvarado Elementary School 31100 Fredi Street, Union City

During the school closure, the New Haven Unified School District will have sites available to pick up NO COST "Grab and Go" breakfast and lunches for all students from 9:30 AM to noon on Mondays and Wednesdays. To minimize unnecessary trips, students will be given two days' worth of breakfasts and lunches on Monday and three days' worth on Wednesdays. Students do not need to be present. Meals need to be refrigerated until used. Please bring grocery bags or a cooler. This may be unavailable once school starts - no info on their website.

Cesar Chavez Middle School 2801 Hop Ranch Road, Union City

During the school closure, the New Haven Unified School District will have sites available to pick up NO COST "Grab and Go" breakfast and lunches for all students from 9:30 AM to noon on Mondays and Wednesdays. Raja Sweets and Indian Cuisine 31853 Alvarado Blvd., Union City

Raja Sweets and Indian Cuisine and Gakhal Group is offering free food to go for Union City, Fremont, Newark, and Hayward families and students in need every day during shelter-in-place from noon to 8 PM.
