Tangled Before the Ever After Movie Review

March 31, 2017

The newest Disney film, Tangled Before Ever After, connects the original movie, Tangled, with the new Disney show Tangled series. I loved that the original actors, Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi have returned as Rapunzel and Eugene (Flynn Rider).ย

Expect the same humorous adventure and fun music as the original movie, as well as get to know Rapunzel and the other characters even better. Of course, you will still find her chameleon, Pascal and the ever dutiful horse, Maximus, and they provide plenty of giggles to viewers. In addition, we meet a new character, Cassandra, Rapunzel's lady-in-waiting and we see them become good friends as they find trouble together on a forbidden secret adventure.

Becoming a princess is full of responsibilities and while Eugene is ready to get married and settle down in the castle, Rapunzel wants to live life and get out and experience the world after being locked inside the tower her whole life. And as expected, her father is understandably overprotective considering that she was stolen away from the castle all those years ago.

Rapunzel's unhappiness at being shadowed by guards at every turn and missing out at exploring the world around her is obvious and she sneaks out of the castle with Cassandra and the adventure begins as the story unfolds. As the movie comes to an end, it will leave you waiting for more answers which will be revealed in the new Tangled series.

As a mom to a few daughters of my own, I love that even though Rapunzel is a "Disney Princess", she didn't accept Eugene's marriage proposal which is what we've come to expect from our princesses. She's her own spunky self and wants to experience life before getting married - even if she does love him - there's time enough to settle down later on.

Our family loves the original Tangled movie and are looking forward to getting to know Rapunzel and Eugene better through the new TV series and this film isย the perfect bridge between the two. The music is fantastic and the animation is definitely Disney quality. And my youngest daughter loves that Rapunzel's long magic hair is back! The movie is magically enjoyable and entertaining for all ages.

Bring Tangled Before Ever After home on Disney DVD April 11th. Click here to pre-order the movie! It includes the TV movie, plus four animated shorts and a free exclusive Rapunzel replica journal. The movie is rated G for all ages and including the bonus shorts, is approximately 65 minutes long.ย

I received a copy of this film to share at an exclusive screening event and to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.
