The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends that all infants remain rear-facing until they are at least 2 years of age or, preferably, until they reach the highest weight or height allowed by their car seat manufacturer. This is so important for their protection and well-being. There are many seats out there which can make it even harder for parents to decide which seat is best for their child.
I want to share with you the new car seat by Chicco, the company that brought us the KeyFit 30 Infant Car Seat, which has been ranked #1 for many years, the Fit2 by Chicco. The Fit2 is a "bucket seat" which is perfect for newborns to toddlers, hopefully keeping your precious little one rear-facing until at least age 2 in this comfortable infant seat. With a weight limit of 4 to 35 pounds, this seat should definitely get you to age 2 with the convenience of a seat that you can snap into a stroller or carry into the grocery store and allow a napping baby to keep sleeping.
The 2-Stage Base converts from "infant position" which is more reclined, to "toddler position" which is more upright with extended leg room, with just one motion. I love the SuperCinch LATCH Tightener that helps achieve a tight and secure fit with a fraction of the effort. The 7-position headrest grows with the child and the seat has an ultra padded, 5-point no-rethread harness with one-pull tightener which leaves much less room for user error in safely buckling your child. Another feature that I love about this seat is the unique one-hand carry handle adjustment - no more needing both hands to adjust the handle - just one hand needed! And finally, the one-hand ReclineSure Leveling Foot helps achieve proper base angle in the car.
The Chicco Fit2 is definitely designed with easiest-to-install functionality and with all the simple to use functions can help parents install the car seat correctly and fasten baby properly every time for a safe travel choice for your family.
Use #TurnAfter2 on social media to share photos of your rear-facing riding kids in an effort to inspire other parents to keep their kids rear-facing for as long as possible.
The Chicco Fit2 is exclusively available online and in stores at Babies "R" Us for $279.99. You can visit their website here and on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
