Watercolor Valentine!

February 9, 2011

Create a beautiful work-of-art in a short amount of time without a lot of mess!

  • Pencil
  • Paper (if possible, watercolor paper)
  • Watercolor Paints
  • Paint brush
  • Water
  • Black Permanent Marker (Sharpie)

Best for ages 4 and up. Use any sized paper and draw several hearts on the paper with pencil. Add lines to create a unique design and create patterns within each heart. Go over the lines - all the pencil work - with a black permanent marker. Discuss patterns and types of lines used, if you'd like. Paint with watercolors - using water and brush - by blending and letting the colors bleed together. If it gets messy, you can blot paper with a paper towel. Let dry.
