Let me back up a little… My little one had been using her little potty chair quite regularly and successfully enough that mommy thought she was ready to go for the big potty (without an insert) and get rid of the lovely (not!) potty chair on the floor. So one morning I scrubbed it down and put it in the tub to dry before storing it. My daughter got up that morning and as she did every morning went straight for the bathroom to start her day. She stopped in her tracks and looked at me with a “where’s my potty look” and I told her to use the big potty. Yes, she had done this several times before so I figured it’d be no big deal. WRONG! Of course the baby needed me while the older one was on the potty and I came back to her tipping forward and catching herself before actually landing smack on her face on the tiled bathroom floor – thank goodness – but she started crying. Later that day she had a BM diaper for the first time in two weeks!!! Later that evening I decided it must be because she didn’t want to sit on (or fall off of) the big potty! So I pulled the potty chair back out – all sparkling clean (for the moment) and let her use it while I went in search of a better option!
We have a little potty insert that fits on the big potty, but I hate the indentations it puts on her skin and figure it can’t be comfortable to sit on if it leaves her little bum looking like that so I was trying to avoid that if I could, but I really wanted to get rid of the potty chair!
