Turkey Treat Bags

By Michelle Melnik; Macaroni Kid Deerfield/Greenfield November 20, 2014
These turkey treat bags are perfect for children to keep Thanksgiving treats, coloring pages, Thanksgiving cards from friends and family, craft supplies, and so much more.

Materials:
  • Brown paper lunch bags
  • Feathers made using different colored construction paper
  • Waddle and beak made from construction paper in different colors
  • Googly eyes, buttons, and other embellishments
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Glue
Instructions:

Cut about an inch off of the top of the lunch bags. To make the bags more durable, you can cover the front and back of the bags with brown cardstock.

Let children make a turkey face using any of the supplies available. Then they can add the feathers using glue to the back of the bag. They can also draw a face, if they'd prefer, or use real feathers rather than paper feathers.
If your children would like a handle for their bag, use a hole punch to make a hole on each side. Then stick the pipe cleaner in one hole (you can use some tape on the inside to secure it in place). Put the other end of the pipe cleaner in the other hole and add tape to secure it in place.

Fill with treats or keep coloring pages or blank paper and crayons for children to use during their Thanksgiving travel.
