Boo! It's Halloween...

...and a Perfect Time to Ignite your Child's Imagination!

By Sponsored Advertising Content October 13, 2016

Playtime outside is getting shorter. The air is getting cooler. It’s nearly time for pumpkin carving and Halloween costumes! Every child is getting super excited about the changing season.

And there’s no better way to enjoy the excitement and fill those bad-weather days than with indoor crafts. Here are five fun, easy ideas that will light up your child’s imagination!

  1. Alphabet Book. This is an easy way to get your child to explore words and letters.

    • Staple 14 pieces of colorful paper horizontally. Fold in half. Put a letter (A-Z) on each side of the paper. Search magazines, newspapers, or the Internet for items that start with each letter. Print, cut, and paste the images into your book.

  2. Family Scrapbook. Have a box of loose family pictures? Here’s a fun memory craft.

    • Sort through the photos with your child. Use an empty album, or glue the pictures to paper, punch some holes on the sides and bind with string to create your own memory book. Help your child add stories and picture descriptions to each page.

  3. Paper Plate Masks. Perfect for Halloween play!

    • Gather together some paper plates, markers, and strings. Draw and color animal faces onto the plates. Poke some holes on each side of the plate to add string to keep the mask in place on your child’s face. Don’t forget to make funny animal noises!

  4. Puppet Play. Everyone loves a good show!

    • Every family has some paper bags or old socks. Put them to good use by decorating them with marker pens. Then let the puppet shows begin!

  5. Treasure Box. Discovering treasures makes for hours of play and imagination.

    • Recycle a cardboard box into a treasure chest. Children will love decorating it with crayons, paints, stickers, and colored paper. Have your child fill it with their very own secret little treasures.

Take some pictures along the way, and share them with us on Facebook.  You could be the winner of a $50 Fandango gift card.  See photo contest details below!

Happy Halloween!
