Did you know that in 2013 teachers spent an average of $485 of their own money to pay for school supplies, instructional materials and other classroom materials needed for student learning? Chevron's Fuel Your School program can help these public educators receive funding for an eligible classroom project through DonorsChoose.org, an online organization that organizes funding for schools across the country.
How it works:
Local teachers submit projects/materials that need funding at DonorsChoose.org by November 30th. Throughout the month of October, Chevron will donate $1, up to $1 million, when consumers purchase eight or more gallons of fuel at participating local Chevron and Texaco stations in Contra Costa and Alameda counties to help fund eligible classroom projects. You can even track the progress of funded projects in our counties at http://www.fuelyourschool.com/Markets/bay-area/.
What you can do now:
Help us spread the word. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are still up for grabs in the Bay Area and encouraging teachers to post their project to DonorsChoose.org soon to will allow Fremont, Newark and Union City teachers to receive the maximum benefit from this program.
In addition, throughout the month of October, we encourage you to encourage friends and family to fuel up at participating Chevron or Texaco stations in October to help secure this funding for local public school students.
